Sophia’s 5th birthday is next Sunday and she’s having a big party
on Saturday for her friends and our family. Because the cake at the
place she picked for her party is an ice cream cake (she’s allergic to
dairy and I don’t trust desserts not made at home because she also has
a peanut allergy and you never know) I told her I’d make a cake for
her. Lord almighty the one she chose is insane! It’s taken 3 boxes of
cake mix, 5 cake pans and a mega-muffin tin. I’m baking the cakes
today, and then freezing them to decorate them this coming Friday since
it’s supposed to take around 2-3 hours to decorate and trying to bake,
cool and decorate on the day of her party or the day before…ugh, no
thank you!
And I realized that all the BIG cakes I’ve done for the kids seem to
fall on their 5th birthday. Azura’s 5th birthday was a Blue’s Clues
cake done in a shaped pan with starpoint frosting (3 hours to
decorate). Brandon’s 5th birthday cake was a construction site,
complete with hot wheels construction vehicles, cookie crumb dirt and
lumber made from cookie sticks. Max’s was hmmm, you know I can’t
remember?? Whoops. It was either the skateboard one or the tank one.
Tank I think. It’s the perfect age for a great cake because they think
it’s SOOOO cool ![]()
Oh, and this is what I’ll be attempting…pretty cool, eh?:
