So I’ve coveted a Kitchen-Aid Stand Mixer for, oh, 20 years? Actually probably over 20 years. I’ve been cooking for almost 30 (and yes, I realize that I’m only 34…my first “meal” was just before I was 4; I was cooking full meals by 10) years so it’s easily been 20 that I’ve been coveting one. I don’t bake either because I hate do knead and mix everything by hand. Every time we went past one over the last 15 years, I’d sigh and turn to Andrew and say I REALLY want one of these!
Funnily enough, Future Shop had a huge sale of them. $100 off and then 10% off that. And $5 shipping. So he couldn’t resist getting it for me for Christmas/Birthday gift but he didn’t think I’d use it. Good lord have I ever used it. I’ve done 4 different kinds of breads (including one of the best rye breads I’ve ever had), soft pretzels, focaccia, cheesecake, toffee cookies and homemade Oreos. And they all rocked. I’m down to a loaf of Gryuere-stuffed bread and I’m going to try pitas, challah and a batch of cookies. I really really used to suck at cookies. So that’ll be the real test.
