My Go-To Simple Summer Body Workout Plan

Here are some easy ways to get fit that literally anyone can do.

We all know that starting anything is the hardest step, whether it be a project, an assignment or (especially) getting in shape – which is why I've decided to share my summer body workout plan with you all. Let's face it – getting in shape is the worst. I am constantly telling myself that I will start tomorrow or Monday or at the beginning of a new month. The truth is you need to start TODAY, even if you already blew the “eating healthy” part. You know why? Because if you apply any of the following steps today, it will motivate you to continue tomorrow and then the next day and then the next day. Action perpetuates action. Here is a list of easy ways to get fit. So, pick one or two of these simple steps today and DO IT! Then maybe add another one or two tomorrow. You will be amazed where you are in a week. Promise.

10 Push-Ups

My friend, Diane, challenged me to do this part of my summer body workout plan last summer. When she first mentioned it, I sort of blew it off and thought that something so small would not make ANY kind of impact. Wrong. So here's the deal: do ten pushups every day for 30 days. If you can't handle a full body weight push-up, do the modified version from your knees (and don't you dare call them “girl push-ups”.) If you can't do ten, do five. Then do six tomorrow. And seven the next day. The goal is to be doing ten full body weight push-ups by the end of the 30 days. You will be amazed at the difference it makes in your shoulders, core and bingo-wing arms. And EVERYONE can fit in time to do 10. No excuses.

1-Minute Plank

A 1-minute plank seems doable, right? It's literally a minute. Except, it's actually really hard and you will absolutely feel it. One of the best tweets I saw this week was something about a minute being no big deal unless you are the gym and then it's the longest period of time in the world. TRUTH. Especially in a plank but the results in your abs and glutes are so worth it.

25 Crunches

Again, the theory here is to start small. I'm not saying to start with 25 full-on sit-ups, but rather 25 crunches. Completely doable. And should take you a grand total or a minute or two. If you have to take a break in between, do it. No one is here to judge and I am cheering from afar!

50 Squats

I'm not sure if there is anything better for your bootie than a squat, making it an essential part of this summer body workout plan. No need to get fancy with bands or extra weights if you are just starting your fitness journey, just doing the squat itself is enough. Check out this great article from Real Simple that explains exactly how to get proper form on those squats at home.  Easy peasy.

Walk Around the Block

Get outside and get moving. You don't have to commit to a huge, long run, or a set number of miles. Just go out and walk. Walk your dog, take the kids to the park, download a podcast or listen to your favorite playlist. Personally, I find that I get my best ideas when I am walking, ESPECIALLY outside. The fresh air does amazing things for your brain and you may enjoy it enough to do it again tomorrow. Sky's the limit. Just walk.

Drink Water

I know. Saying to “drink water” is like saying “florals for spring.” Groundbreaking. But it's so true. Water will help flush out toxins, make your skin look plumper and younger and helps to fill you up and eliminate unnecessary snacking. That sounds groundbreaking to me.

Eat Half

A Beverly Hills doctor once told me his best instructions to his patients to lose weight was to “eat half”. I'm not entirely sure that is the best approach to all food in life, but it makes total sense when it comes to dessert or carbs. Often times, I think people start diets or “healthy lifestyles” with the intentions of eliminating all “bad” food and then they don't have the willpower to maintain. So, instead of depriving yourself completely of foods that you enjoy, just eat half of what you normally would. Order the ice cream, have a few bites and throw the rest away. Those extra calories really do add up.

This easy summer body workout plan will probably take you a grand total of 10 minutes to do in a day, with the exception of the walk. And EVERYONE can dedicate 10 minutes of their day to feeling better physically. The point is to just start somewhere. We have all heard that a body in motion will stay in motion and it's completely true. Once you start seeing small changes in your body, it will inspire you to keep going AND you will also naturally start to make healthier food choices. It really is a cycle. Plus, exercise gives you endorphins and endorphins make you happy and who couldn't use a little more happy in their day?

Sound off below and let me know if you try any of these tips! I will be here to cheer you on and celebrate your victories! Also, be sure to check out these ten skin care secrets to get that summer glow! As always, thank you for reading and sharing!

XO, Christi

Hi Christi! I started this journey of trying to wake up at 5AM for 21 days. It’s been quite a challenge but I am getting there, and today I just decided to add “exercising as soon as I wake up” into the game. Literally a MINUTE after this crossed my mind – I run into your insta story leading to this! Taking it as a sign – starting those push-ups right away😁
Thanks for being the extra push I needed❤️

BTW, in case you didn’t hear it today – you’re amazing😊

Thank you for your post and the motivation. Was doing great with some things and then I got off track and it’s been super hard to get back on again. When I f up I am super hard on myself and then it’s hard for me to find that strrength and willpower again. Trying to have compassion for me and am trying to go slow and take small steps. I know those small steps make all the difference😊 Happy Friday, Kelly
